NFL 2025 season: Week six

Live coverage features live text of Sunday's games on multiple platforms, starting with the Broncos-Jets clash in London (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Additionally, audio coverage is available through select stations for another key matchup (from 21:00 BST).

It's week six of the football calendar , after last week's talk about two top teams as possible championship contenders, each surrendered their unbeaten records.

Notable during those contests was the number of penalties each conceded. The Eagles did so in key moments so they essentially defeated themselves after leading 17-3 entering the final quarter against the Denver Broncos, set to play in London this Sunday.

However it proved good to observe that Denver's QB Bo Nix managed to overcome the shortfall before lead three scoring drives on three possessions in the fourth quarter, to win the game 21-17.

The Broncos have the top defender in cornerback Pat Surtain II. They rank first in goal-line defense, whereas Philadelphia lead the league in red zone offence, and Denver won that contest.

They had the Eagles' number in terms of disguised blitzes. They did not always sending more than four pass rushers but they might plug two LBs in the interior then drop them out and dispatch a nickel from the outside.

Early on of the season, we said during a show how the Broncos could be this season's surprise contenders. They finished the previous year well then did a good job of building upon that.

Could Denver be this year's dark horses?

New TE their tight end has excelled big while new running back JK Dobbins is a player they believe in. He's currently 5th league-wide for rushing yards (over 400) and tied for fourth for rushing touchdowns (four).

It's impressive how head coach the Broncos' leader displays "RUSH!" prominently on his call sheet.

This demonstrates how the Broncos represent a team that wants to prioritize the run, because you can achieve much off the back of that. It reduces opposing rushes while keeps you in positive down and distances.

This has benefited quarterback the young passer, who entered the NFL as the 12th overall draft pick last year, throwing 29 touchdown passes – just behind Justin Herbert in rookie records (31 back in 2020).

Josh Allen and Herbert possess powerful arms to throw anywhere, but they don't move in the same way as Nix. He has incredible arm talent, which is different, plus he's highly agile.

His assets include his mobility, being able to throw on the run, and finding varied release points to make throws as he moves outside protection, the bootlegs. He can deliver that layered pass over the middle and past defenders.

As a rookie QB, aged 25, he displays a lot of poise in the pocket and isn't really fazed by extra rushers. He tries to evade a sack as much as possible and can throw in tight spots. He possesses a high football IQ and is very decisive.

If you constantly run the ball it consumes the clock and forces the opponent to stay in play extended periods, and if you have an athletic quarterback the defence must cover the field vertically side to side. It can be draining.

Nix has bitten back with the coach during games at times and it seems Payton likes that fire, seeing him as a fierce rival. In my view it's exciting for him to coach a young quarterback who's similar to play-dough. He can truly build something up how he wants to shape him. I think it's a unique opportunity for him.

Payton has won a Super Bowl and has surpassed Bill Parcells in all-time victories (173 - tied 14th overall). He's seen it all. I think the success Denver are having offensively is mostly due to his guidance, his play-calling, his game sense – and the combination with Nix helps make him what he is.

You wouldn't want a more qualified person in your ear, to help you through some of the tougher situations and boost confidence.

I believe in Denver's defence, in the QB's grit and calm. But are they strong enough to face a top squad at full strength? Because that was not a Super Bowl performance by the Eagles last Sunday.

Currently, it's unlikely Denver are elite. They're performing better than most, that's a good place to hold the AFC West. All they need is to continue this trajectory.

They're really good at leaning into their forte, which is running the ball, and this is precisely what they should do against the Jets in London. It will likely be a Dobbins-focused game, essentially.

New York have allowed 140 yards on the ground per game (sixth worst), five ground scores this season (10th worst), and they're the sole squad without a win any game.

Since the league began tracking turnovers in 1933, this team are the inaugural squad to be without a single takeaway in five outings, which is kind of shocking considering that their new coach was previously defensive co-ordinator at the Detroit Lions.

The Chiefs' QB says Kansas City have 'already lost too many games' following Monday's defeat to Jacksonville.

Following the upcoming matchup, Denver face a manageable slate until their break (in week 12) - the New York Giants, the Cowboys, Houston Texans plus Las Vegas Raiders before the Chiefs.

Looking at their division, Kansas City are 2-3 and the Broncos are even with the Chargers on 3-2 so they could challenge at leading the West.

It depends upon which form of the Chiefs they face because the Broncos {beat|def
