Two Victims Revealed in Brown University Attack as Police Persist in Hunt for Perpetrator.

Two students who died in the weekend's mass shooting in Providence had tributes paid to them on Monday – while an intensive search for their killer continued following the release by Rhode Island officials of the single suspect questioned in the case.

Tributes for Ella Cook

The student Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was called “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, as stated by the Advent Cathedral in Birmingham, which paid tribute to her at a ceremony on Sunday.

Cook was second-in-command of Brown’s division of College Republicans of America, the group said. Karoline Leavitt also expressed sympathies on social media, stating: “It's indescribable. Thinking of her family and friends, especially her parents.”

The other deceased individual was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his first year of studies at the renowned school, according to relatives.

The victim's identification was confirmed by the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. He had big dreams of entering the field of neurosurgery and assisting patients,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a memorial statement.

Nine other people were hurt in Saturday’s attack in the school of engineering of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Law enforcement reported late Sunday that a man aged 24 detained in a raid at a Hampton Inn about around 27 kilometers from the campus earlier in the day was set to be freed.
