The Renowned Musician Calls On Backing to Propel Palestinian Solidarity Track to UK Festive Top Spot.
A campaign is aiming to send a traditional song from Palestine to the Christmas number one spot. The effort aims to deliver assistance to Gaza's residents while also highlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.
A Chance for Support and an "Chart Upset"
Composer and producer Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a chance to stand with Palestinians this festive season. He remarked the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“That would be amazing if that came to pass, yes,” he stated. “I wouldn't be completely let down if it fails to, festive releases are a category of their own.”
Defiant Message of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the adaptation of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's powerful central theme.
“It occupies a deeply meaningful spot for a lot of people,” Barghouti said. “It’s basically saying that I would rather die in dignity than live a life without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we desire to exist a respectful existence that we merit as a people.”
Production History and Contributing Musicians
The track was produced after a large-scale benefit event held in the autumn. Originally intended to be performed and recorded live, the rendition was shelved during the concert due to the event running long.
The notable list of artists featured on Lullaby includes a group of prominent voices from the music world. All participated in the benefit event, which successfully generated a considerable total for charitable causes.
Creation and Launch
Lullaby was crafted by a team of music creators. The song showcases a combination of the heritage language with new English lyrics.
The organizers behind the project have clarified that their aim is to collect the highest amount for a specific fund. These resources will be distributed to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an partnering humanitarian organization.
“We haven't set a specific target,” a figure said. “We will pursue as much as possible. Obviously, the greater the amount, the better. All proceeds are directed out to the people of Gaza.”
The reality in the territory was noted for its extreme devastation, with a huge proportion of property said to be destroyed or damaged.
“In that context, a few million doesn’t make that much difference. But I think what does make a difference is first of all spreading knowledge of this plight and proving there’s another side to the story.”
The track is set to be released this Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the benefit event will be made ready to watch on a digital service from later in the month.
