Soccer Analyst Sutton Faces Off Against Artist Murs in Top Flight Forecasts

Arsenal's 10-game victorious run was ended by Sunderland prior to the global break, but can the Premier League frontrunners bounce back against local foes Spurs this weekend?

"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," stated football expert Chris Sutton.

"Frank will attempt to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still find a way to win."

Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, versus artificial intelligence, fans and a variety of guests.

For week 12, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.

Murs' latest album, Knees Up, is available on Friday.

Soccer and Family Experiences

Murs is a skilled footballer as well as a accomplished singer and has been a featured player of several charity football games down the years - but he is not planning a professional return as a player.

"{I recently played in a benefit match the other evening for a mate of mine," he explained. "The side was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!

"I continue to love football, but I hurt my knee a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the unpredictability of the game means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it properly again.

"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am preparing for the time that my child or boy chooses to play instead."

Murs and his spouse his partner have a young family, Madison and Albert, and he is prepared to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their manager.

"I will not force football on our children but I've already told my wife that if they do get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be managing their Saturday football team," he said.

"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously was involved with a football club for a while too.

"My dad did it with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I inherited it. He coached our team for two or three seasons and had great fun with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Premier League Forecasts

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea might have to be patient for their star's comeback from injury but their offense is already more potent with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.

In my opinion this fixture will be quite close, though. Burnley are disciplined and their only home losses so far have been against the Reds and Arsenal.

This smells of a 1-1 tie to me, but I am in fact going to choose the London side to edge it for what would be their third league win in a row.

Sutton's forecast: 1-2

Olly's prediction: The Blues will be too strong. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have lost their past two games - although both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.

On the other hand, the Hammers won two in a row before the international break and, although both of those games were at home, they appear competitive again.

The Hammers' sole on the road win this season came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when their boss Nuno was still that team's coach.

So, what exactly do I go with here - can West Ham extending their streak under their manager, or Bournemouth responding?

I will choose the Cherries, because I believe what happened against Villa was a blip.

Sutton's prediction: 2-0

The guest's prediction: The home team are performing strongly but the visitors have improved under their boss. 2-2

AI's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were seen as one of the favourites for relegation before the season began, but they have impressed a few observers under their manager and are in fine fettle with three in their past four matches.

A family member told me to select Brentford striker Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.

The forward will likely score again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to select him or back Brentford at Amex Stadium.

The Bees have not had much success on the road this term, and the Seagulls are consistently decent at their stadium. Brentford will attempt to attack on the counter-attack but I think the home manager's side pose much more of a danger.

The analyst's prediction: 2-1

Olly's prediction: This could be one of those games where you think there is going to be a many goals but it in reality turns out to be quite tight. 1-1

AI's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a massive game for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their past six games.

They have have lots of quality in their team but it nonetheless feels like they could be dragged into a drop zone fight.

As for Sunderland, well they are the surprise package of the Premier League campaign so far.

The away side's display in the two-all draw with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We have not witnessed any other team rough up the North London side like that this term, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.

The logical choice to do to back the visitors here, because they are obviously capable of disrupting Fulham up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they defeated Chelsea at the close of October.

But I am not going to do that. Instead, I truly need to continue opposing Sunderland with my predictions. I am taking a lot of credit for their positive outcomes because they clearly enjoy to prove me wrong.

Looking at Fulham's at Craven Cottage record, the only team they have been defeated by is Arsenal. Marco Silva's side will be extremely desperate for a positive result, so I am going to say they will pick up three much-needed points.

Sutton's prediction: 1-0

The guest's choice: I know Sunderland are performing strongly and additionally that the hosts are on a poor run... but they have still been respectable at home this campaign. 2-0

The algorithm's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a hard fixture to predict. Liverpool have lost seven of their last ten matches in every tournament, but could they be among the teams who profit from the {international break|
