Nigel Farage Claims Teachers of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Race Issues

Nigel Farage has asserted that educators would initiate walkouts within weeks a Reform UK election victory, accusing them of “poisoning our kids” by telling students that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and Caucasian students are perpetrators.

At a gathering for a private US Christian college, the politician expressed his perspective on the UK education system, stating that the “radical left-wing” had “now in control of our education system”.

“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike soon after winning the next general election,” Farage commented in response to questions.

“They are corrupting young minds. They instruct children to feel guilt about their nation. They are telling little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is a victim and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is a perpetrator. They create division, instead of fostering unity. They promote this harmful mindset.”

In response to these assertions, Daniel Kebede dismissed the idea that the schools were under Marxist influence as “nonsense”. He pointed out that any strikes must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and doubted whether the party would target these right after taking office.

“The politician has crafted his political career on dog-whistle politics and now, similar to other figures, he is lining up teachers and their organizations for a conflict,” Kebede stated.

“This is highly reckless. I don’t – and nor does my union – push critical race theory as he’s suggesting … Should he become prime minister he would sell out our public services, particularly schooling … and the outcome would be catastrophic for students and learning.”

The party, which tops surveys by about 10 points, has provided limited specifics on its educational plans and seems not to have designated an education lead.

Nonetheless, Farage’s remarks suggested the group would reform the educational framework. He said: “We have got a massive job with education – absolutely herculean. And, it won’t happen quickly; it requires years, years to turn this around.”

Farage expressed that gen Z was more open to analytical thought, but older youth were “completely lost”.

Paying tribute to a conservative activist, he commented: “All I want education to do to teach critical thinking – to instruct people that multiple perspectives exist and you make up your own mind rather than what’s happening now where views are labeled good or bad. It’s a massive job in both Britain and America.”

The party has conflicted with a major educators’ organization, after Kebede called the party “far right and racist” and dismissed Farage as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.

Farage has accused the union head with being “an avowed radical” … someone who is absolutely determined that our children should be poisoned through education, their thinking tainted regarding national issues” and has argued that the union is trying to indoctrinate youth opposed to his party.

Almost one million people work in schools in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The major education union has hundreds of thousands of members.

National strikes over teacher pay and conditions in recent years caused widespread disruption in educational institutions and millions of days of lost learning for children.

During the American gathering, Farage also pledged to help spread the online educational material of the Christian college in the UK. He stated organizations like it were “key to resistance”, noting: “I mean this. I’ll assist garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of youth to your online courses. I make that commitment now and I will follow through.”

The college, a small private Christian college, provides complimentary classes. According to its online description: “Comprehensive learning is necessary for personal happiness and to maintain the benefits of freedom. The college furnishes these beautiful courses for free to every interested learner.”
