Mohamed Salah Extends Regret to Teammates, Discloses Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has revealed that the Egyptian forward said sorry to the group of players after the controversy from his recent interview.
The Incident
Salah was left out from a European match after voicing frustrations and stating his connection to the head coach had broken down.
“Salah is an individual and he can say his own stuff,” the midfielder said. “He said sorry to the group and was like: ‘Should anyone feel slighted, please accept my apology.’”
Arne Slot has previously declined to comment publicly on whether he got an explanation from the player.
Looking Ahead
The player stated that the team's response was unchanged. “He was his usual self, his demeanour was positive and we all treated him normally,” he continued.
He also implied that a player's desire to start is a positive trait. “I understand there are certain ways you can express yourself,” he said. “But if a lad’s fine to just be on the bench, then I think that’s a bigger problem.”
On-Field Response
Liverpool's form have remained strong in the matches since the initial controversy. Jones believes the forward's comments were not intended to cause disruption.
“In moments of frustration, it’s always been from a good place,” he finished. “We’re past that now and we’re building chemistry, getting results and securing victories.”
