Iran Reports Assault on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes across the region in response for a significant and continuing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone close to the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any damage is not yet known and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to American military installations - stated they have shot down missiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on sites associated with the the regime, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the projectiles with great effectiveness and shot down a several projectiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported wreckage landed in a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
