Former Doctor Accused of Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care

Prosecutors have stated that a former physician now faces charges for carrying out assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.

Details of the Serious Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous sexual offences – some of which involve acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.

One senior CPS official commented, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Police Inquiry

The charges come after what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.

Prosecutors outline the forty-five sexual offences include:

  • 15 counts of assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
