Arne Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Retains The Club's Support After PSV Eindhoven Defeat

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was natural for questions to be asked about his future following another convincing loss against the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their 9th loss in 12 matches, marking the team's worst run since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Dutch league champions on a tough evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I've received plenty of backing from management,” Slot remarked.

“It would be nice to turn it around and earn three points of course but if you are in a managerial role and not doing well then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He added, “I am OK with my role. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Talks with The Board

When asked to provide details on his dialogues with the club's leadership, Slot said:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive to the team and to me and those talks happen but they don't phone me all the time each day to say they back me.”

He added, “During our regular discussions I sense the belief. However I haven’t spoken to them since this defeat so far so we'll see.”

Recurring Failings and Squad Response

Slot lamented recurring shortcomings from his team in their European defeat, specifically poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the answers. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder remarked.

“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond being angry internally. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the words.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the team I support. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a phase like this with performances this poor.”

Jones finished, “But we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And as long as that badge is gone, we will always compete.”

“Our aim is to help the side back to its rightful place, show everyone again what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the top club in the planet.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
