Anthony Joshua repeated his controversial remarks about being prepared to “kill” Jake Paul during a media gathering in Florida on Wednesday.

The remarks were originally stated on Tuesday when the boxer was questioned if he would show restraint against Paul, responding that “if I can kill you, I'll kill”.

The upcoming bout against the internet personality turned fighter has attracted criticism over the risk involved and the physical disparity between the two competitors.

Ex- world heavyweight champion The Gypsy King branded Anthony Joshua a “disgrace” for his inflammatory language.

But the 36-year-old fighter, justified his position: “It's my job, we fight. We have a licence to kill.

“I understand many people don't grasp it but this is what my job is. I take pleasure in what I do. Whatever happens, happens - as long as my hand is raised, that's what's important, respectfully.”

He added, “That's just the mindset we have to have as boxers. I don't know if other fighters think that way. Maybe they're a bit more reserved. The way my mind works. When you're in the squared circle, it's a risky thing. Everything can happen.”

“You hope your opponent leaves the ring unharmed, but if they don't, you still have to go to bed aware you just did your job. It wasn't personal.”

Jake Paul's Fiery Retort

Jake Paul, a huge outsider in the fight as a career lighter fighter, was equally fiery in his retort.

“This is a contemporary gladiator sport,” he declared. “I'm prepared. I want his hardest punches. I want there to be zero excuses when it's all said and done. Let's kill each other.”

AJ will face his opponent, 28, at Miami's Kaseya Center in a fight many see as a significant mismatched contest, with some suggesting it should have been approved as an exhibition bout.

The official fight will be fought over eight 3-minute stanzas using regular 10oz gloves, with a specified maximum weight for Joshua.

Despite the vulgar terminology used, the fighter claimed he has been “brought in to rescue” the sport of boxing.

“They want me to stop the Jake Paul phenomenon and I comprehend it and that's why I have to carry boxing on my back in this bout,” he concluded.

The event also had more humorous moments, with Joshua laughing as his rival sang a nursery rhyme to him.

The final staredown concluded peacefully, with Paul adopting a unusual pose before Joshua stayed composed and lightly touched his necklace.

Both Fighters Dismiss Pre-Arranged Claims

The peculiar nature of this fight has led to rumors about its legitimacy, including suggestions that Joshua may be prohibited from scoring a knockout.

“There are no clauses in the contract, Joshua can attest to it. We're going to battle,” Paul insisted.

The former champion, wearing a valuable chain, jokingly remarked, “The only thing in the agreement that got my attention was the purse.”

He has stated on social media that the total purse will be exceptionally high.

Jake Paul first made his name as an online prankster, gathering a massive online audience.

He has not faced anyone of Joshua's pedigree but insisted that his opponent would not underestimate him.

“It's a wise move on his part,” he said. “This could possibly be, and will be, the biggest defeat of his life.”

A win for Paul would be perhaps the most shocking upset in the boxing's history.

It would undoubtedly leave an permanent stain on Joshua's legacy, but the athlete said it would not spell the end.

“I'd return again, shake it off,” he remarked. “I will be headlining again in a couple of years. That's life. I'm a competitor in the game.”
